Post Scary P4C800-E Deluxe Problem?
Hi y'all compu-wizzards,

Since a week or two my pc (pentium 4, 32.G, 1GRam) is scaring the shit out of me ... seriously, i got so much stuff on there that can not vapourise into thin air!

Problem:
1) when it has to 'work hard' ... like streamin' video or running a lot of plugs in cubase it suddenly WITHOUT A WARNING shuts down (like i cut the power).
2) when rebooting it SOMETIMES gives the error 'overclocking failed' ... i do not overclock my pc, that's the strange thing.
--> sometimes it doens't want to reboot at all and shuts down again

I searched the net a bit and found that it may be:
1) a bios problem wit the P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard i have
2) battery problem with the P4C800-E Deluxe
3) cooling fan problem
4) ...

Can someone shed a light on this?

Please!!! :?

most probably it's your power supply. Best bet is to try another one and see if it solves the problem.

trying a new power supply works in a lot of cases, try that indeed

if it doesn't work, you'll have to try to eliminate possibilities

btw, get an external hard drive to backup your stuff, cheap as hell and definatly worth it

clean out your pc on the inside! dust is a mothaf***
but I also think it's your power supply
Lot's off usb shit use power from your supply, try to plug them out when your not using them.

thanx for the replies!

Another hint ... now it sais (on startup): (...) scanning for IDE-drives (...) no driver attached to fast track controller (...) bios is not installed (...)

Some scary shit, i tell you! :?

Bought a external HD to make back ups, but it shuts down before it's finished backing up! :bang:

Any more info on this? please?

Dont worry to much about the harddrive... It seems the problem aint located there. My previous desktops been tru some serious shit too, but the HD's where never letting me down, and I was always perfectly able to reinstall them in my fixed desktop (or new one).
Now my advice is: if your not to educated on computer stuff: get it fixed by a pro (at a computershop... you got plenty of those shops, and if its just some software issue itll cost you not more than 10 -15 euro....)

And dont you go switch to mac because of this :teeth:
